Now, I realize I haven't posted in a while...which is exactly the reason I chose this topic. I might as well end my dry spell with a good Spartan kick to the vajayjay. Please do not continue to read if the knowledge of my sex life weirds you out...

I don't know about y'all but one of my first questions when I started researching ALS was "well..how does sex work?" The answer is you make it work.

Sex drive! That's kind of important if you plan on having sex. Having ALS has absolutely wrecked mine. To be honest, I didn't have a high sexual appetite before hand, but now I crave sex like a slug craves salt. It's terrible. Between the stress, exhaustion, weird schedules, and intermittent depression it's hard to even consider having sex. But let me tell you... when I make time for it, the experience makes me forget everything negative in my life. There are lots of tips and tricks that we use to help me get my engines going. Only two main ingredients are truly needed: toys and leaving your "give a fucks" at the door. I have also discovered that frequent meditation aids in increasing the want to use my husband for pleasure. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to increase their appetite for a good 'ol roll in the hay.

Once I finally overcome the ALS cock-block, I have to deal with physical limitations. I find my self struggling with twisting myself into various positions. People with ALS, depending on where their weaknesses are, have to be careful or the experience will be less than pleasurable. For example, my abdominal muscles are quite weak so when I tried a position I use to love, it made me feel extremely nauseous. I learned that day that there's nothing better at ruining the mood than the fear of puking all over one of your husband's best assets. How do I make it work? Pillows. If you have ALS and are sexually active, I highly recommend you stock up on pillows to support your body. And PLEASE be careful - know your limits.

Hopefully that was more helpful than Google.

Enjoy!

HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! Yes, during my MS episodes, sex was the LAST thing on my mind, but I knew like you said once we were "on it" I would leave my cares behind. I am guessing too, like me, with ALS you need to stimulate that vagus nerve, it will increase the desire fo shooooo... I will message ya about that one! LOVE your transparency and for answering allllll the questions folks have, including me, but won't dare ask!!!!!!
