The Aftermath

To my knowledge, aftermath is what's left after something terrible has happened. However, Google taught me a second meaning. It also refers to the new grass that grows after a harvest. That definition of aftermath better suits what we actually went through.

Yes, our world had been shaken. We were angry, sad, broken down, and unsure about what to do next. But we were also hopeful. We were present, loving, supportive, and positive. We loved each other harder, we joked and we laughed, we made amazing friends, we decided that surrender was not an option. We started really living. We started to regrow.

There is still evidence of the harvest and there always will be. But I am one heck of a lucky girl to be surrounded by such an amazing support system. Let the aftermath continue!
